Course Description
|
Whether beginning your career or up-skilling your current qualifications, this course is a great way to learn about supporting and empowering people with disabilities in a range of environments. You will learn about the legal and ethical guidelines of the industry, advocating for people with disabilities, occupational health and safety, and developing support procedures. Your communication skills will be developed for communicating with people with disabilities and facilitating their needs. Learn how to facilitate program development and individualised plans whilst working effectively with others in the field. This qualification addresses work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients' homes.

- Apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation
- Report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies
- May work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.
