This course will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge to work with and support the elderly, and people with a disability living in their own homes in the community or in other community settings.   You will learn to provide services to clients within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. Some of these services may include: 

Personal Care 
  • Showering, dressing and grooming
  • Meal preparation
  • Physical, emotional and behaviour support
  • Light domestic duties
  • In home respite 

Community Access
  • Assistance with shopping
  • Supported transport assistance to appointments
  • Recreation support

Rehabilitation Support / Therapy Support
  • Support with Hydrotherapy programs
  • Support with Exercise programs
  • Support with Communication / Communication Aids

Upon completion of this course, you will have the qualifications to gain employment to work with and support the elderly, and people with a disability living in their own homes, specialised facilities and other community settings.

On completion of the course, employment opportunities may include:
  • Home and Community Care Worker
  • Disability Support Worker
  • In Home Respite Worker
  • Planned Activities Assistant 
  • Community Care Worker
  • Residential Care Worker
  • School Support Officer (working with children with disabilities)
  • Community Access Coordinator 
The timetable and time frame for this course has been specifically designed to assist people wanting to gain their certificate but without the pressures of:
